One Cold Water Heater Ends in $1,000 Savings

Axel C. of Pittsburgh had followed the same morning routine for years, so when he turned on the sink a few weeks ago and no hot water came out, he knew something was wrong. He had lived in the house for 15 years and this had never happened before. As Axel put it, “When you have a routine that involves hot water at your command every morning without fault, when that suddenly disappears, it’s not easy to miss.”

He headed down to the basement worried about what he might find. He was relieved when there was no flooding or major damage but did notice that his water heater was completely cold.

Axel remembered that he had a HomeServe repair plan that covered water heater repair and replacement, although until this moment he had never needed to use it or his other repair plans either.

He called HomeServe and was quickly connected with a local and reliable contractor, Ray Hall Plumbing. After arriving to his home, they confirmed the water heater needed to be replaced and installed a new one right away. The replacement was completely covered under his plan, saving Axel more than one thousand dollars.

Looking back, Axel summed up the experience simply and enthusiastically.

“Houses in my area are aging and there’s a time where things will fall apart and break. For me, HomeServe came through.”

“The experience was great. It was easy and straightforward, plus the installer with Ray Hall was very professional, courteous and friendly,” Axel said. “I’m happy, glad you were there, and glad I signed up.”

Axel had been a HomeServe customer for five years, first signing up after hearing about available repair plans through Duquesne Light. Over time he had added coverage, starting with a sewer line plan and then enrolling in two more within a year, including the water heater repair and replacement plan that came in handy now.

“You never know what’s going to happen in your home,” Axel said. “Houses in my area are aging and there’s a time where things will fall apart and break. For me, HomeServe came through.”
