Jared W. was just six months in to enjoying newfound homeowner life when trouble struck his Harrisburg, Pennsylvania residence. During a washing machine cycle, he noticed that water had started to backup and overflow onto the floor. After some brief investigation, he determined that he didn’t feel the problem was with the machine itself, but rather an interior plumbing issue.
Luckily for Jared, he had the foresight to enroll his home in an Interior Plumbing and Drainage repair plan by HomeServe a few months prior. So, with that, he gave us a call, and we promptly sent out a local and reliable member of our contractor network, Donley’s Plumbing.
“When I called in, I was really pleased with how quickly the agent understood my situation,” said Jared.
“It was clear the person on the other end of the line was experienced with what they do.”
The plumber on scene attempted to access the interior drain line through the washing machine’s connection, and quickly realized there was an issue.
“Basically, they were hitting some sort of snag or clog, but couldn’t see what it was,” said Jared. “I was assured that somebody would be back with a camera and other equipment to further investigate.”
Sure enough, a short time later, the crew was back. This time, they were able to see that part of the cast iron pipe that the interior drain line was constructed of was leaking and corroding. Interior mounting screws had come loose, creating further damage to the interior of the line. The conclusion was that an 18-foot section of the interior drain piping along with a cleanout would need to be replaced.
“I can say that I felt informed and in the loop the entire time – the plumbers with Donley’s were extremely professional,” said Jared. “Before I knew it, they were wrapping up and the repair was completed. I’m happy to report I’ve had no issues since.”

Because Jared had enrolled in the Interior Plumbing and Drainage repair plan, this job saved him over $1,100 – which goes a long way, especially for a brand-new homeowner. A mailing from HomeServe explaining available repair plans was one of the first pieces of mail he received after moving into his home. Jared figured that enrolling in a few available plans couldn’t hurt, especially since he didn’t have the knowledge or skillset to complete any repairs on his own.
“I didn’t expect to utilize any of the plans so soon, but I’m beyond grateful to have been covered for this job at no cost to me,” said Jared. “I felt that every step of the way, HomeServe was responsive, receptive, and respectful.”
