Phoenix Homeowner Saves Big with 45-Year-Old Sewer Line Repair
Kenneth B. of Phoenix, Arizona got a pit in his stomach when he realized that every time a toilet was flushed or the dishwasher was running, his shower drain started to back up water. After testing it a few times and confirming there was definitely a problem, he realized that the solution might be simpler than he initially thought, since he had enrolled in multiple repair plans from HomeServe a few years ago.
“Initially, I heard about HomeServe from a friend of mine – they had been customers for a few months before they had a total sewer line failure,” said Kenneth. “It saved them a lot of grief, so that’s what got these plans on my radar.”
After explaining the situation to a HomeServe agent, Moon Valley Plumbing, a local and reliable member of our contractor network, was dispatched to Kenneth’s home. The plumber was able to use a snake to clear the main drain line that led to the home’s exterior sewer line but felt some debris and resistance in the process.
“The gentleman that was here went the extra mile to call HomeServe to get approval for a camera to be run down the line,” said Kenneth. “He wanted to be one hundred percent sure that our problem was solved before closing out the case.”
The request for the camera was approved, and the Moon Valley plumber’s suspicions were confirmed when the footage showed numerous tree roots that pushed up against and broke the bottom part of the line, as well as a few separate intrusions and breaks. A portion of Kenneth’s 45-year-old line would need to be hydro-jetted to clear out what they could followed by a replacement.
“Moon Valley was beyond excellent. They were polite, professional, and kept me informed the entire time,” said Kenneth. “Not to mention, even after digging up part of the front yard, when they left, you wouldn’t even have known they were there – they really respected my property.”
“If something like this happens and you don’t have coverage, you’re going to be out a lot of money,” said Kenneth. “You simply never know as a homeowner, so these plans are a must-have.”
All in all, the repairs to Kenneth’s sewer line saved him over $3,400 – an amount that will surely pay for the monthly cost of the plan for many years to come.
“If something like this happens and you don’t have coverage, you’re going to be out a lot of money,” said Kenneth. “You simply never know as a homeowner, so these plans are a must-have.”
